On Saturday February 20, 2016, Oregon State Police closed Highway 22 northwest of Dallas after a three vehicle collision resulted in one fatality. Witnesses to the accident reported seeing a vehicle cross the center line of the highway, enter into oncoming traffic and collide with a semi-truck. The semi-truck was subsequently rear-ended by another vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle which crossed into oncoming traffic was taken to Salem Hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead. All three vehicles were towed from the scene of the accident with significant damage.
