A Multnomah County Circuit Court judge ruled that a $12 million jury verdict, in favor of a boy who was severely injured at OHSU, should stand. The judge’s decision came despite the hospital’s argument that the award should be reduced pursuant to a $3 million liability cap. The jury awarded the verdict as a result of a 2009 incident in which a boy was severely injured by OHSU surgeons, resulting in an emergency liver transplant.
